Pause for Prayer - July 2010
‘What if I had faith that moved mountains – I would be nothing unless I loved others’. 1 Corinthians 13

Jesus tells us to love one another as he loves us. This is not easy sometimes. We have to ask for God’s help as we learn to trust him in different situations. We need increased understanding as we walk the way with him day by day, as we try to do his will.

Fill our hearts with love Lord, that we may serve others better with joy in our hearts. Guide us and lead us into truth that our faith may grow and grow.

Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you’ - Luke 24:26.

We pray for all those in our church family who are going through difficult times. We thank you, Lord, for the encouragement your Word gives us at these times. We think of those who are ill, house-bound or lonely – give them your peace Lord.

We pray for residents and staff at Amarna House, and thank you for those who take communion there month by month. We pray that all may be blessed through this simple service.

We pray for our Vicar Tony, Jim, and all the leaders at Holy Redeemer. For the PCC that they may be encouraged by our response to their plans and find us willing to help in what ways we can. We remember Tony’s work as chaplain at Manor School and pray for staff and pupils that all may be aware that you are there too wanting to bless and guide.

Lord – increase our faith, so that encountering ‘mountains’ in our lives we may expect you to work beyond our expectations.

Your Ward - sharing our experience of life in our local Community through the City Councils local meetings.
We have made a commitment as a Church to attend our local Ward Committee meetings to hear about and support where we can, the work of the City Council and our local councillors. It is also a great opportunity for local residents to air their views and concerns and share in local decison making that helps to shape the life of our community.

You can find out more about the Acomb Ward Committee meetings at http://www.york.gov.uk/council/Wards/acomb/ and if you live locally, why not get along to the next meeting on Tuesday 9th February - details are on the flyer above.
